Friday saw me back at the venue where I got married, and as always, it was a pleasure to be working alongside the team and all of the amazing suppliers for this Autumn wedding.
My couple were keen to have a fairly pared-back ceremony, one that told of their story but was focussed on the traditions of a British wedding celebration. My bride is from the USA and the groom was born here in England but often away on deployment with the army, so it was crucial that their ceremony be filled with real moments, and a focus on the strength of their bond.
The day was a lovely autumnal day, dry but with a cold feel, so we were all set for their chosen outdoor ceremony at the gorgeous Spinney, the outdoor setting at Rivervale Barn.
Having checked in with all of the suppliers on-site, and the fab venue team, we were all set to seat guests, and get things started. The bride's parents led the procession, we were then joined by bridesmaids and groomsmen, who took up positions in a traditional American format alongside the couple at the front.
The guests enjoyed hearing about the couple's story, and their journey from meeting through to the wedding day, and we heard them saying their vows and sharing some special words as they exchanged rings too. Although the ceremony was shorter than our usual celebrations, it was no lighter in terms of feeling and was full of meaningful details.
I loved seeing this couple coming together in this wonderful way, and hearing them declare intentions in front of everyone closest to them. It was beautiful. The bride looked sensational in her dress, and the groom was very smart in his suit (he opted for 'civvies' rather than his military uniform). Their guests were full of smiles and provided a very warm reception for them both despite the cooler temperatures outside.
I would like to wish the new Mr & Mrs Britter a lifetime of love and happiness!
Jenny
