Wow, what a wedding! I returned to the beautiful Botleys Mansion (part of the Bijou Group) today, to conduct a bespoke outdoor ceremony for a truly lovely American couple. After many, many months of consultation, discussions, writing, skype calls, emails and a face to face meeting with the bride last year at the venue, all of our planning and creative efforts came to fruition in a really special wedding ceremony. The couple had 230 guests, the majority of which had travelled overseas from various countries including Sweden and of course the States, and yet we made sure everyone felt part of the proceedings, and the ceremony had a lovely intimate and relaxed ambience. We managed to keep part of the ceremony a surprise from both mums and asked them to join us for a lovely poignant moment mid way through, and needless to say there were many happy and emotional tears flowing, which created some lovely memorable moments for both families. We had two beautiful readings, and even had a nod to their heritages, which spanned across several countries and cultures.
I worked with the couple to create a lovely new element to a ceremony, one that I have not done before, the creation of a new tradition. All guests were to be witness to the start of this new commemorative activity, as the couple had collected over time, some of their favourite poetry and had, had a book made especially for the ceremony today. Just after their certificate signing, I introduced the meaning behind this element of the ceremony, and the couple signed, dated it, along with details of their venue. The book will then be passed down to their children, and their children's children to become part of their wedding days too. It was great to be able to look back at their families' heritage, but also to acknowledge the blending of these two backgrounds, and focus now on the start of their journey as a married couple, and indeed their own family lines for the future.
Such a lovely day, and once again some amazing feedback, which makes as already fantastic job even better. I look forward to sharing the official photos (and even a video clip!) soon. Thanks to all of the lovely vendors from today too!
Congratulations Mr & Mrs Joseph, and may your future be filled with much love and laughter!
