When today's lovely couple reached out to me they were looking for something simple, elegant, and upbeat. Over the course of their planning, and during our discussions, they did consider having something more personal but opted to keep it streamlined yet still really beautiful. I crafted a lovely ceremony, and still managed to make it feel personal to them, with some great little moments woven into it.
When I arrived, I checked in with the lovely venue team, the photographers and the videographer, and communicated all of the things that were about to happen. I reach out to lots of my suppliers before the big day so that they know just what the couple has asked for during our planning phase, and today the team was amazing! I then met with the lovely acoustic guitarist and talked through the cues and what was happening and when.
With everything set it was time to set aside some time with the groom and so I got to check the final few details, and then had a chat with the two best men. As the ceremony was written without our usual 'love story' and brimming with personal details, I decided to add in a little surprise for the couple which I know just made for the most lovely memories, and a copy of what we did went into their wedding day certificate folder to cherish.
As guests began arriving, the outdoor ceremony setting at Millbridge Court, was a picture of perfection, blue skies, greenery all around us, the most amazing wedding florals, and the sounds of the angelic voice of the lovely Laura filling the space. The wedding party then began arriving, bridesmaids in four pairs, followed by the maid of honour, all looking wonderful in gorgeous pink gowns.
As the bride and her very proud father came into view, the groom started to get emotional and one of his trusty best men jumped to his rescue and gave him a big hug. As he then watched his special lady coming towards him, the guests were all beaming and clearly ready to help these two celebrate!
As I seated the guests, the couple moved into our trademark 'V shape' at the front, and we talked about how this means that there is a wonderful sense of connection, and how expressions and laughter can be shared. It was key that the guests felt a part of the celebrations and not just spectators to it.
With a big welcoming cheer for the bridal party, the bride and her father, we settled into the ceremony, shared some really lovely words, and talked about what marriage means to the couple.
We had two lovely readings, one by the bride's sister (and maid of honour), and the second by the groom's father. They both read brilliantly and were given huge applause afterwards!
In the place of their love story, I chose a reading that I shared with everyone, and we included some very special people in the ceremony. It is always nice to be able to identify opportunities to really make it that extra bit special, even on the day, it was great to capture the essence of what was happening, and it went down really well.
As the couple shared vows, and then read their own words to one another, the bride's mum came up as our special ring bearer, and the couple exchanged rings to seal their promises to one another.
I had prepared a special wedding day certificate, which the couple signed along with two witnesses (the groom's mum and a family friend), and then it was time to present them back to their guests!
With their special confetti all distributed with the help of the two best men, we extended the aisle so that the couple had a wonderfully long confetti shot, and then as I announced the much loved Mr & Mrs Ockwell, the guests cheered and petals rained down over them both, again with the sounds from the amazing singer and guitarist Laura.
What a wonderful day, and I wish these two lovely people a wonderful and love-filled future!
