I have recently had several brides reach out to me as they have booked their venue, paid their deposit and assumed that the registrar would be available at their preferred time slot (despite booking some months ahead), but this is not always the case. They cannot physically cover all venues and all time slots, and so often, couples are left with either really early time options, or really late ones.
Sadly, many venues are not offering a solution to this by referring them to a celebrant, and are either losing business themselves (with the client going elsewhere) or ending up with a distressed bride and groom who then have to reschedule their whole day. I have been busy with a little project, campaigning to try and update venues and ensure they not only know about celebrants, but to make sure they offer details about us to their clients. As an added bonus, it means that venues with available dates in peak season (because a registrar is unavailable), can now be filled with celebrant-led ceremonies.
Whether a couple book me or an alternative officiant, I would just like to see this kind of situation prevented, and so my mission continues. I hope that by my spreading the word about the good work that we do, it will eventually make a difference.
If you are a couple in this situation, do drop me a line. I can work with you and your venue and ensure you have a memorable day and at a time that suits you. If you are a venue, and you would like more information on how I can help you and your clients, please do get in touch for a chat.
