Out of the Ordinary Places to Celebrate Your Ceremony

Here's a blog from my team member Louise . . . . . .

"The joy of having a Celebrant create your unique wedding ceremony is that you can hold it wherever you like (within reason!). I love being creative and have been looking at some more unusual places to tie the knot on your special day. Of course if you can obtain the landowners permission you can find a field, riverbank or seashore spot, the world’s your oyster in creating that one special wedding day especially for you.

Underground, overground, weddings in the sky, in a faraway galaxy, in a tree, on land or on the sea. If you like the sound of this then a Celebrant led wedding is the path for you to have the ceremony of your choice.

trees

Connect with nature, hug a tree, and love the woodland views. At Tree Top Escape, The Nest is a special wedding space suspended in the trees with stunning views across the North Devonshire countryside. The Tree Top Escape’s intimate 14 guests’ venue is positioned on an idyllic green hillside in rural Devon with the sound of The River Taw bubbling by in the background.

If you wanted a more intimate, bespoke woodland wedding there is Treetops Treehouse at The Fox and Hounds Country Pub in Eggesford, Devon. The Treehouse is the perfect setting for an intimate 10 person wedding with the tree house made out of larch wood and built around a 200 year old oak tree. The setting is divine, sitting by the trout pond beyond the garden.

Nearer to home, we have a treehouse in Surrey that we work at which is wonderful.  Reach out to find out more!!

cavern

If you fancy going underground as opposed to being in the Treetops how about The Subterranean Lake at The Carnglaze Caverns in Cornwall?

There are 4 special unique locations to have your wedding and the settings are truly magical. Three of the locations are inside, the Rum Store Chamber with a huge 80 metre aisle all underground and The Underground Lake, or above ground The Vine Conservatory, or if you wish for an outdoor woodland wedding there is the Enchanted Dell. The Underground Lake is unique for an intimate 40 person wedding by the side of a crystal clear bluey green lake lit up by candlelight, very ethereal.

Now to the water where I have several unique venues to suggest. The Royal Navy Ship HMS President which is moored permanently in The City of London and has amazing city views. Have your ceremony on the Drill Deck or in The Wardroom in an amazing historical venue.

If you like the idea of being under water but everything will be above water how about a submarine? The HMS Alliance in Hampshire part of The Royal Submarine Museum is just the place. This is truly unique being the only WW2 submarine in the world which is licenced for wedding ceremonies and at this intimate setting you can marry with 12 special guests.

If you still like the idea but have a larger wedding party, have the submarine in the background and marry in The John Fieldhouse building. You can even arrive by boat and moor up at the venue’s private jetty!

pool

The Education Swimming Pool is a unique venue in Manchester where your guests are seated in the swimming pool, minus the water! There are three empty swimming pools or The Turkish Baths Rest Room which has a stunning stained glass window of The Angel of Purity. The light into the old Victoria Baths is incredible and whether you have one bath for the wedding, another for the food and the other for the dancing is up to you. The venue can be individualised by you but will definitely give your guests lots to talk about  and your day will go ‘swimmingly’.

Alternatively, The National Marine Aquarium , Plymouth is an underwater world to marry in completely out of the ordinary. This unique and quirky attraction will sea drift your guests away to an underwater paradise. Celebrate surrounded by underwater sea creatures, soothing water, eat, drink and be merry whilst also supporting the conservation charity for marine life. If this type of wedding venue appeals to you, I’d also suggest checking out The Deep up in Yorkshire.

aeroplane

If the air takes your fancy you have the jet inspired, modern Aviator Hotel in Farnborough, an airplane themed hotel set overlooking the private Farnborough Airport and its runways. Another flight-worthy destination is hangar at The Concorde Conference centre at Manchester Airport, which hosts weddings under the wings of the iconic Concorde airplane.

Another venue is the control tower at Cotswold Airport is an ideal venue for couples wishing to have vast views of the countryside and over the runway. You can have your wedding breakfast watching and listening to planes taking off. The party plane The Boeing 747 is the only plane in the world licenced for weddings based at The Cotswold Airport is ideal for anyone who wants a little plane spotting while they get wed. The plane is unique as you walk the aisle of the aircraft and can be set up in different ways to suit you.

Knight Ceremonies also has contacts with a setting that will allow you to get wed onboard an actual concorde!

space

If a space theme is your wedding choice and you prefer the galaxy there is The Space Centre in Leicestershire. This venue is unique and is historical, romantic and explores the depths of space. The Sir Patrick `Moore Planetarium takes the wedding party on a spectacular 360 degree cinema experience. Here you can find hands on exhibits, The Rocket Tower, and The Space Race areas for an amazing wedding astronomical star themed extravaganza.

Many Science museums will also have options to hold a wedding ceremony too!

These are just a few examples of venues which are out of the ordinary but show how you really can make your ceremony as unique as you want to suit you. How rememberable can you make your wedding? Do not be constrained by the norm go for what you want, it is your choice, be creative, think outside of the box, make the day unique and create a bespoke ceremony led by a Celebrant. Let your imagination soar!"
