Wow, what a lovely wedding day for my couple on Saturday!
These two were just a joy to work with, and after two date changes, we finally found ourselves at the beautiful barns in the gorgeous Surrey Countryside, ready to celebrate a truly wonderful partnership.
I'd been working with this couple for a couple of years and after a few visits to the venue and many chats online, we had created a beautiful ceremony together.
When I arrived at the venue, there was a hive of activity as the groom and his groomsmen were putting finishing touches to the barn and getting the music ready for soundcheck, and working out all of the cues surrounding the music.
I met with the lovely Hilary and Alyson who run the weddings at the barn, and we ran through all of the cues and the plans for the pre and post-ceremony movements, and with lots of time to spare, I had a check-in with the groom and best man. Running through what would be happening and when it was a nice chance to just grab a moment before things began and everyone filled the barn.
With everything set and ready to go, the guests began taking their seats and there was a lovely feel about the barn. I got to chat with both families and they were all very excited to be finally having the wedding, and being able to get together to celebrate.
After the opening address and initial messages had been conveyed, it was time to greet the bride and bridal party and to have a check-in with her before she entered the barn. The bride looked absolutely beautiful, and her bridesmaids and little flower girl were so lovely.
Having an opportunity to chat to everyone, to allay any fears or worries, and to reassure them that all is in hand and to have time to take a deep breath is always lovely. Having chatted to bridesmaids, ring bearer, and father of the bride, it was time to re-enter the barn and await the final cue from the venue.
With music poised and as the big oak door opened, I love to have a peek at the groom who was very much ready to see his lovely bride, and full of emotion.
As she came in the guests were all delighted and a real sense of excitement filled the space! I settled guests and moved the couple into their chosen standing positions and we were off!
The ceremony was written very much with them in mind, and was full of lovely details, two great readings and an account of their story so far. We wrote some lovely vows and had an exchange of wedding bands, with the assistance from the best man and ring bearer too.
"Cat tells me that she loves to play piano, and she was delighted to hear that Dave did too, and she would listen to him playing Einaudi in his room next door. . . ."
I could tell that this day meant so much to the couple and their families, and it was just wonderful to be there helping them to celebrate and create some lovely memories together.
As I cleared the space afterwards and headed off to leave, the groom's parents stopped me to say a heartfelt thank you and several guests also said a thank you and how warm and personal the ceremony was. As I said my farewell to the couple, I just knew that it had meant so much to them and they were visibly delighted and ready to enjoy the rest of their day!
Thanks and a huge congratulations to Mr & Mrs Emery! Thanks to the barn, the catering team and the fab photographer too!
What a great day.
