Intimate Autumnal Celebration at Rivervale Barn

My couple had quite the rollercoaster ride on the journey to their wedding day this week.  With a destination wedding originally planned and then cancelled because of the pandemic, they remained committed to having a day to celebrate, and so moved all of their plans to a UK wedding at the gorgeous Rivervale Barn.

These two love to travel, both work in the travel industry, and were keen to have a sand ceremony as a part of their wedding, and so I set to work planning it all out.

We arrived at a lovely flowing ceremony, with 14 members of their family and wedding party coming up to play a part in their special day, and all helping to create a lovely keepsake.

When I first arrived at Rivervale on Monday it looked absolutely wonderful, full of beautiful floral decorative touches, and most definitely had the WOW factor.  The ceremony space was phenomenal and I just knew their guests would all have wide eyes when they arrived, and I was right!

As we seated everyone and welcomed the first part of the bridal party to the fabulous sounds from their pianist Simon Grand, the bridesmaids found their places, and the big oak doors closed allowing the bride and her father to take up their positions ready for the big moment.

As they re-opened, everyone spun around to see my bride Kylie looking absolutely sensational, and her very proud dad who was nervous but did a fine job escorting his daughter into the room.  With everyone settled and seated, and the couple turned around so their guests could see them and feel connected, we began.

As I set the tone for the ceremony, I also explained a little bit about their chosen sand ceremony, and the couple started this off by pouring the very first sands, followed by the bride's father and groom's mum on behalf of his late father.

As things unfolded, and we welcomed other key guests to add to the lovely keepsake, it really started to take shape and the colours looked lovely, with layers at differing angles.

The couple had some of their story told, and we spoke of how important their guests were.  So much so, that having them involved was a key factor in helping to shape the ceremony!  We had a lovely surprise for the couple's mums and shared details of a sweet family tradition relating to their wedding rings.

As we brought things to a close with their sand ceremony and helped it aloft for all to see, the couple chose to keep it unsealed so that other guests could add to it throughout the reception.  What a lovely reminder of their special day!

As they walked back up the aisle, the bride's father took the time to chat with me and thanked me for the ceremony (and in jest, asked me to write his speech!).  It is always lovely to hear from family and friends afterwards, and these two had some really lovely people supporting them.

I just love these two, their generosity, their quiet confidence in each other, their dedication to their relationship despite the obstacles they have faced, and how nothing has and will ever get in their way.  They are the nicest people, and I wish them all the love and happiness for their future.

Congrats Kylie and Luke!
