Naming Day Celebrations

Family comes in all shapes and sizes, with many different backgrounds. A naming ceremony is a great way of celebrating family, and the arrival of a child or children that help complete that circle. It is an alternative way of celebrating; you can have a ceremony that you want with your own personal ideas and flair; you can involve those that are close to you, that have supported you through the many highs and lows that come with being a parent.

Whether you are a single parent, two mums, two dads, grandparents raising grandchildren, a mum and dad, or parents that have adopted, you can celebrate this milestone event with a celebrant and a personal celebration that is unique to you and your family.

Recently, I was lucky enough to be involved with a sibling naming ceremony which saw family reunite after years of being apart due to living in different parts of the world. They had family fly from America which was included in the writing of the script. It was important to the family that the Armenian culture was talked about, and we were able to include an ‘Armenian Parent cheat sheet’ which was a huge hit with the family.

It is about drawing on the similarities and differences from both sides of the family as these all help to shape the child(ren) for the future. We help families celebrate and acknowledge the support from everyone that they are loved by to help guide them through their adventures.

We can also help to guide you through the process of allocating mentors for your child(ren), whether you wish to call them god parents, guideparents, lifeguides, mentors, or 'sparents'!  You choose the terms and we help to create something that is really very special for you and your nearest and dearest to bear witness to.

Namings can be held anywhere, at any time of day, and do not need to be in a licensed space, which opens up a whole host of possibilities!  You could have it at home, your favourite football stadium, in a hall, or function room, or even in a garden.
