Speaking in public is something that many people fear, especially when it involves standing up in front of people at your wedding!
I work with many couples and families who have arranged for loved ones to come up to the front to deliver a reading during their ceremony, and these naturally confident types, armed with their words on cards or pieces of paper, are often reduced to a bag of nerves! Their usually strong vocal capabilities, can be reduced to a mere whisper once their turn to speak arrives, and it becomes almost inaudible for guests to hear.
The same is often the case for the actual bride and groom. As part of my ceremonies, I include the option to exchange personal vows, and what could be a wonderfully personal moment, where meaningful and heartfelt words are delivered, the opportunity is turned down due to nerves. We have all been to weddings where you just cannot hear those precious vows spoken and you feel that arguably the most important part of the day has not been heard and enjoyed by everyone attending.
I completely understand this, and have been contemplating how I might help couples ensure they don't miss out on these special moments. I already provide the use of my full wedding PA system so that a wireless microphone (and stand if required) are available, but I wanted to extend this and I am now offering additional services as follows:
Vow writing - working with you to produce wonderful words that reflect your feelings towards one another. Words that feel natural (and therefore easier to say), can make this part of your day one to remember and not one to fear. I can also help with the delivery of your words, incorporating prompts, pauses and guide you to a confident exchange of vows
Toastmaster - as officiant at your wedding I can seamlessly move into the role of master of ceremonies to ensure guests are in place for photos and seated for dinner, and announcing the arrival of the new "Mr & Mrs . . . " to the top table for the wedding breakfast
Speech writing - don't forget the father of the bride, best man, and indeed groom speeches! Not everyone will be confident, and I can help to create a memorable speech and provide tips for a smooth delivery!
If you, or any of your nominated speakers at your ceremony would like my help, please feel free to get in touch for more information or a friendly chat.
