It was back in February that these two incredible people first reached out to me amidst busy careers and hobbies that see them taking on all manner of physical challenges (most recently cycling from Lands End to John O'Groats!).

Although their wishes were to have a simple ceremony, we made sure that it was full of personality and delivered in my trademark style, bringing guests together and ensuring the couple had the best time.

When I arrived at The Great House, the decor looked amazing!  The couple had put their little touches throughout, and it was such a lovely setting.  I felt so excited for them both, and after settling in and preparing things ready for the ceremony, I headed over to see the bride. 

Sadly she was losing her voice and struggling to speak much at all, so I prepared options in case at the point of her vows, we had to improvise.  I ran through things with her, and had a check-in with her bridesmaids and father just before they came in too, which is always lovely to soothe any nerves.

With cues all worked out with the venue and discussions had with the photographer, videographer, and their string quartet, we welcomed guests and the room was alive with the most amazing atmosphere.  

Having checked in with the groom, he was ready to be reunited with his lovely lady, and so as we began the procession, I gave him the nod to turn around as his bride reached the top of the aisle and began walking towards him.  It is always such an emotional moment, and these two were clearly so pleased to be back together and standing with one another at the front, hand in hand and shoulder to shoulder and facing their guests.

As their ceremony unfolded, I observed row after row immersed in what was going on, feeling the joy and the love for these two people, and laughing along as we recapped on their unique story.  We heard how they met, about how they shared a love of travel and sports.  How during lockdown they completed numerous fitness activities and challenges which kept them going through the tough times.  We shared details of their trip to Barbados and how Mark asked Emily to marry him, and how they welcomed the adorable Frank and Shirley (their kittens!) into the family.

To be able to piece together everything for all of their nearest and dearest, is always an honour, as was having a moment to thank both mums too.  With anecdotes shared, we moved on to the couple's vows, and then their own special words and despite a very croaky voice, the bride managed to share her words with her groom and the room was so full of support!

As they headed back down the aisle their guests took their positions outside for a fabulous confetti throw!

I just loved this wedding, and I know that these two will go from strength to strength, their shared interests aiding strong bonds, and their zest for life creating opportunities for new joint adventures.

What a wonderful day for the most wonderful couple.  Congrats to Mark and Emily!!
