Saturday was a very special day because the lovely Kelly and Laurie finally got wed. We'd been planning their ceremony for some time, and it was completely personal to them, with bespoke poetry, two amazing readings, guests involved and lots of fabulous touches throughout.
These two incredible people met at work, and hit it off, despite liking rival football teams! It was all just meant to be, and they are two of the nicest people I have met. They worked so hard organising their wedding day, and to see it all come to life on the day, was a privilege. It all looked wonderful, and despite a few nerves when I arrived, they were both ready to take these next steps into married life together.
When I arrived I checked in with the venue, the photographers and videographers and then had my chats with the bride and then the groom. We were all set to begin and so once everyone was seated, and opening address delivered, I popped out to greet the wedding party and ran through the details for the start of the ceremony. With cues given by he venue team, we began the music and opened the doors. The bridesmaids entered to their own piece of music, and then the doors closed again briefly for the bride and her dad to move into position. As they reopened, I gave the nod for the groom to turn around and he was filled with emotion as he saw his beautiful bride there, ready to come down the aisle. It is such an honour to witness it all from the front, and I never take it for granted.
As the bride and groom were reunited at the front, and with everyone seated, I welcomed everyone and we made sure the couple were relaxed as possible. The ceremony began with acknowledging those that had travelled to be there, and of course those that could not be present too. We then had a lovely reading by their friend Clare, who did incredibly well despite being very nervous. She got a huge round of applause as she went over to hug the couple and we the moved on to tell the couple's love story.
I had spent time creating a very bespoke piece of personal poetry for the couple and it spoke of their journey and how well they are matched, and everyone got to join in too, which was a lovely moment for their loved ones.
We then had the lovely Sabrina (another friend of the couple), who read brilliantly, and left us all smiling and with tears in our eyes too.
As we moved into the vows and rin exchanges, the couple moved into the middle of the space at the front, and took eachother's hands. They made promises to one another, and then confirmed these with the exchange of their wedding bands, which had been carefully stored inside two Disney themed ring boxes!
They then signed their certificate with both sets of parents, and then I brought the ceremony to a lovely conclusion. With everyone on their feet, they all cheered the couple on as they took their first steps back down the aisle.
It was just beautiful and I wish the new Mr & Mrs Chapman much love and happiness for their future!
Enjoy the honeymoon!
