As a pet owner, you will know that they are an essential and integral part of our families. For some, they are the only family, and so when your beloved animal sadly passes away, there becomes a great gap in your life.
It is essential to mark this occasion and acknowledge their role as one of your closest and dearest. It provides an opportunity for you to express your feelings, to say a fond farewell, and allows for a gentle point of closure, where you can begin to adjust and move forward.
Family
If your pet was part of a larger family group, this could also be the first time children have experienced loss and mourning, but families are turning this into a very therapeutic process for the next generation; with guidance, and opportunities for younger ones to participate and have a voice as part of the celebration of life. There are settings that provide assistance with arranging the funeral for your beloved companion, and as a celebrant, we can help you all to hold the space and reflect and remember.
As adults, the loss of a pet is a very significant event in our lives and is something that we prefer to keep from our thoughts because we understand the pain that it will likely cause. While they are with us, we do our utmost to enhance their quality of life, and a proper funeral is a befitting next step for us to take on their behalf.
How can I help?
I can help you by creating a service which may include prayers or poetry, readings, and even symbolic rituals (planting a tree, lighting a candle, or installing a commemorative sculpture). I am happy to conduct the funeral ceremony at a crematorium and/or a blessing or memorial at your home for the commemorative rituals.
We start with a chat on a call, and then we work together to gather information, and the safe collection of memories, and I then weave them into some really lovely ceremony words. On the day, I am there to guide you, to offer my warmth in delivery and to allow you to share tears, memories, and of course, even laughter, for there will no doubt be some details that create a smile as you reminisce about your experiences.
My Services
In order to ensure that you remember the day, we provide a copy of the ceremony words as a keepsake (either digitally or printed) and we can also create some bespoke poetry about you and your pet that can be read (either by me or one of your family), and then kept as a keepsake and perhaps framed with a photo to cherish at home.
We are asked for assistance with many other ideas too, and so please do ask if you would like to do something different or have an idea that you would really like to include. We are here to help you celebrate in a way that is befitting for you, your family, and your beloved pet, and we would be delighted to help.
How does it all start?
I offer a free consultation, where we can discuss your requirements and ensure that your dear companion is given a memorable and dignified ceremony.
We work with Dignity Crematorium locally, but also carry out remembrance services at family homes across Surrey, Hampshire, and Berkshire.
I have over 11 years of experience as a celebrant and working with families, so you are very much in safe hands, and I completely understand the sensitivities and complex situations that sometimes arise following the loss of a loved one. We will guide you through it all.
