In my bag

This page is about helping you ensure you have what you need for your wedding kit.

As a wedding professional with over 30 years in the business, 10 of which have been as a celebrant, I know what it takes to operate professionally, and having the following items in your kit bag will mean a smooth-running celebration.

VocalZone tablets
Vocalzone Pastilles are great at keeping your throat clear of those niggling croaks ensuring a clearer projected voice.

Great if like me you suffer from hay fever or you get colds which lead to coughs, and diminishing voice quality.

Buy one for you and keep one for your couples!  I've had partners with coughs, sore throats, and partial loss of voice due to illness and it's seen them through the vows perfectly!

Music Stand
This music stand is sturdy and can withstand breezes if working outside due to the holes that allow the air to pass through rather than knocking it over.

The base folds down and it fits in a tote-sized bag.

Magnets

Magnets are my best friend for weddings with readings.

These brilliant bobble-shaped ones mean you can easily pick them up, without having to slide them across the metal stand to retrieve them as you would with fiddly flat round ones!

Strong magnets like this are great at holding readings on your music stand especially if breezy outside.

Small light

This clip-on book light is a relatively recent discovery but is a lifesaver if you work in barns or venues that are naturally dimly lit.

This is ideal for winter weddings or candlelit venues.

Directional, dimmable, and fully adjustable.

TIP: Make sure you clip onto the cover of the book, to allow for page turning though!

Pink paper

Pink Paper is going to be your new best friend if you work outdoors.  In brighter and sunnier months, the glare from white paper can be extremely uncomfortable and makes it almost impossible to read.

Using pink or peach paper (as per the next item) will tone down the glare and allow for a more comfortable read.

Salmon paper

Salmon paper is another great option for outdoor weddings and is a softer alternative to the pink paper above.

Its a personal choice but both do the same thing and will make for a more enjoyable delivery if working at an outdoor venue on bright days.

VocalZone tablets

This brilliant neck fan is amazing! Unlike the ones that sit directly on your neck, you can have a more directional flow of air with this one that is on a handy neck strap and has a tilt option on the head of the fan too.

It has a 16 hour run time, is incredibly quiet (so perfect if mic'd up), has 4 speeds, and is extremely lightweight.

This is ideal for those hot days (or celebrants based in hotter climes) when you have an unshaded setup and want to keep cool.  It can also be worn during a ceremony if worn low enough so it sits hidden by your book when in use.
