The wedding that I officiated on Thursday 1st May, was one of the most epic that I have been involved in. From start to finish, this was beautifully organised, and I just loved this couple!
Adelle and Jamsie were looking to celebrate their marriage in a way that brought both families together in harmony, made space for the telling of their story, and one that felt personal, meaningful, and relaxed on the day.
We started to build their ceremony together, and after adding in lots of wonderful touches, and creating some really special moments, we were all set for the big day.
My bride is of Indian heritage, and my groom is from Ireland, and it was lovely to welcome their family and friends at the venue, and to finally bring everything to life for them. They had asked me to be their wedding MC too, making announcements and keeping guests moving and things running to time, so my wedding day prep was two-fold and included lots of detail, and prompts in order that I could make sure it all went smoothly.
On the day when I arrived, the sun was shining and I just loved how the venue was bathed in bright light and blue skies framed the whole space brilliantly.
I checked in with their photographers and videographers and the wedding party, and soothed a few nerves. There was so much that was to take place before the ceremony even started, so, accompanied by my run sheet from the bride, I made sure everything was set out properly and things were where they needed to be.
As guests filled the space and began to take their seats, I delivered their special messages, calmed the groom, and went to greet the bride and her attendants.
The procession was to include three pieces of music, one for the Mother of the bride and the children in the party, then another for the bridesmaids, and a final piece for the bride and her father. They walked around the fountain and came into the ceremony area, and I turned to the groom to watch as his beautiful bride came into view. He was clearly emotional, but held it together, and their union at the front was just lovely to witness.
I seated all of their loved ones, welcomed everyone (they had a global guest list with people travelling from all over the World), and set the tone for the ceremony. We had laughter, tears of joy, emotional tears, and lots of love. The ceremony flowed beautifully and had everything from touching readings, to their love story delivered in the form of some bespoke poetry that I had written for them.
" . . . .They introduced each other to family, when the first date turned into more,
They were perfectly relaxed together, and it was only week 4!
From there, romance continued, and roast dinners did too!
They had trips to meet family, and the relationship grew."
The poem covered how they met, how they extended family ties, celebrated each other's cultures, and how they got engaged.
" . . . . Embracing both cultures, celebrating Diwali and St Patrick’s day,
Building family bonds, it’s so lovely I must say. . . . ."
" . . . In the garden, she was playing catch with the dog, you see,
He seized the moment and dropped to one knee.
She spun around, her heart it could sing,
She eventually said “yes!” and he gave her the ring."
By the time we reached the moment that they were to share vows and exchange rings, emotions were running high, and my couple had a lovely moment to say how they felt about one another with some secret vows too.
As we brought things to a close, and I recapped on everything that we had witnessed, the couple were welcomed back down the aisle by their guests with the loudest cheers!
I was flooded by wonderful comments from their loved ones, and as we lined up their guests around the fountain, I checked in on the couple, congratulated them, and brought them back out for their magical confetti throw.
From that moment, I was into my next role of MC, and helped to guide guests over to the reception drinks, which included cocktails, beers, and a Guinness bar!
I checked in with their amazing Indian caterers (Laguna) and kept the photographers and videographers up to date with timings and any special moments that were to be captured. I spotted the groom hopping into the reception space to add a prop to one of his friend's place settings, as part of a prank, and it was these moments that I am so privileged to have shared.
We had a wonderful cake cutting, a first look at the reception space, and the most epic entrance into the wedding breakfast that I have seen. Their guests all clearly held them in such high regard and filled the room with cheers and whistles.
I introduced the speeches and stood at the back to watch things unfold. It was an absolutely lovely wedding, and when it came time to leave, I checked that everything was in place and knew that they were going to have the best time celebrating.
What a really special day it was. I'd like to give the biggest of congratulations to Mr & Mrs Butler, and I hope to see you again soon!
